Sharp Alpha Secures $25m for Emerging Ventures in Sports and Entertainment

Sharp Alpha has obtained $25 million to invest in new companies in the sports and entertainment industries.

Sharp Alpha, a company that provides money to smaller businesses, has gathered $25 million to help new companies in sports, gaming, and entertainment. This second batch of money has already been given to companies like Almost Friday Media, Jackpot.com, and Betcha. The first company they supported with this money was C15 Studio, known for creating Formula 1’s online streaming service.

Many banks, sports teams, and investors across the US support the project. Fund II often starts by giving new companies between $1 million and $2 million.

Partnership and Co-Investment

Sharp Alpha has created a special fund that lets certain partners add more money to specific investments together with Sharp Alpha's main fund. This way, with more money pooled from different sources, Sharp Alpha can invest more strongly in the areas it focuses on.

Portfolio and Success Stories

  • Future Anthem
  • SlamBall
  • SnapOdds

Sharp Alpha has invested in a variety of companies, including Future Anthem, SlamBall, and SnapOdds. Its previous fund, Fund I, raised $10 million to invest in startups focused on sports betting technology. This fund has helped companies such as Players' Lounge, PickUp, and Prophet. Importantly, Prophet went on to start the first legal sports betting platform in New Jersey with Sharp Alpha's investment.

Leadership and Advisory Board

Lloyd Danzig is in charge at Sharp Alpha and he thinks that new, small companies are really important for bringing fresh ideas to the growing world of competitive entertainment. He says that now's a good time to put money into these creative leaders in the industry.

The firm is supported by an advisory board with experienced members, such as Keith Horn, who started Loring Capital Advisors and was COO at Elliot Management, and Emanuel Pearlman, the ex-chair of Empire Resorts. These members share their deep knowledge and advice with the firm.
